Neil Sutherland
Director/Principal Agricultural & Environmental Scientist & Hydrographer
Neil Sutherland provides considered environmental assessment and technical advice that draws upon his agricultural and environmental science training, site investigation skills and some 30 years of industry experience gained in Australia and overseas.
Regularly called upon to provide expert witness evidence to assist the courts, Neil is well versed in statutory and regulatory processes and helping clients achieve sensible, sustainable outcomes.
Neil established Gilbert & Sutherland Pty Ltd in 1997 and has served industry and the community through voluntary roles as former Chairman of both the Queensland Acid Sulfate Soils Committee and the Gold Coast City Council’s Waterfuture Committee, overseeing the creation, consultation and implementation of the Gold Coast Waterfuture Strategy.

Erin Holton
Director/Principal Environmental Scientist & Engineer
Since joining Gilbert & Sutherland in 2005, Erin Holton has gained substantial experience in site assessment, soil and water investigation, erosion and sediment control, acid sulfate soils, stormwater assessment and management and site environmental auditing.
Building on her Bachelor of Environmental Science degree and considerable environmental skills and knowledge, Erin completed a Masters of Environmental Engineering in 2009.

Phil Matthew
Principal Agricultural Scientist
Phil Matthew joined Gilbert & Sutherland in 2007 after 20 years with the University of Queensland as a lecturer/researcher at its Gatton Agricultural College.
An expert in soil science and soil/water interactions, Phil specialises in good quality agricultural land, mining and extractive industries, groundwater, wastewater disposal and reuse, and the identification and management of environmental impacts.

Greg Holland
Principal Environmental Scientist
An expert in soils, site assessment and environmental management, Greg Holland was a foundation member of the G&S team in 1997.
Greg’s involvement in Acid Sulfate Soils research and policy development in Queensland included serving on the Technical Committee developing the Queensland Acid Sulfate Soil Technical Manual, Soil Management Guidelines (2002).
Leading land developers and major project managers lead the list of clients that seek out Greg for his sound technical knowledge and broad project experience.
